According to family legend, when Jasper, who went by Walter, was 19, his father gave him a team of horses and a wagon and told him, "go and make your way."
Jasper married Sarah Maye Biles, daughter of William J. and Rebecca Jane (Walton) Biles, on 14 Nov 1883. Aunt Glenna passed on a story that they had left to go to the state of Washington to grow Hopps. They are found there in the state census in 1892, King County, but believe they were there prior to that time.
