Evelyn Starling Baker Blalock, of the Scotts Hill community of Wilmington, NC, died March 18, 2012.

Evelyn was born August 16, 1928 in Rocky Mount, NC, daughter of the late Edmond O. Starling and Siddy Hall Starling.

Mrs. Blalock was a hard working woman who loved gardening, quilting, cooking and entertaining family and friends.

Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

Her first husband, L.H. Baker, four sisters and two brothers, preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Donald Blalock; two sons, Charlie Baker (Patti) of Charleston, SC, and Mark Blalock (Sue) of Castle Hayne, NC; four daughters, Donna Bailey (Wayne), Terry Baxley (Sammy), Phyllis Thomas (David), all of Scotts Hill, NC, and Kim High (Ernie) of Bolivia, NC; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be 2:00pm, March 21, 2012, at Wesleyan Chapel United Methodist Church in Scotts Hill with Rev. David Woodhouse and Rev. Karen Howell officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
