Joseph W. Maddox was born Feb. 7, 1923, in Springfield, a son of Luther and Louise Pickett Maddox. He married Mary Kinkade Hancock Sept. 11, 1989.
Surviving are his wife; four children, Martha (James) Doyle, Nathan (Lynda), Matthew (Barbara) and Lenore (Doug) Sherwin; three stepchildren, Dawn (Randy) McCoy, J. Bradley Campbell, and Jack (Lori) Campbell; eight grandchildren, a brother, Robert (Betty) Maddox; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Zagozewski; three nephews; a niece and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
Joseph was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army.
