John W. Dunbar, 82, 1211 Ottawa Ave., died at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 14, 1998 in Defiance Hospital.
He was born June 26, 1916, in Defiance County, the son of William and Sophia (Mayer) Dunbar. In 1936, he married Marjorie Waisner, who survives. He was a member of the Defiance Eagles, AMVETS Post 1991 and was employed in sales at Hudson Feeds for many years before retiring in 1981. He was also a member of Ayersville United Methodist Church and South Richland Fire Department and a former Richland Township trustee.
Also surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Donald (Anita) Rethmel, Mrs. Craig (Cindy) Becher, Mrs. Gary (Pattie) Groll and Mrs. Horasio (Melanie) Resendez, all of Defiance; two sons, Glenn of Napoleon and John, Defiance; a sister, Mary Lee Miller, Napoleon; and 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death was a grandchild.
Services will be private and burial will be in Riverview Memory Gardens.
