Ralph English Miller was born 13 January 1899 in Tustin, Michigan; died 25 February 1959 in Lincoln, New Hampshire.
He served three years in the U.S. Army preceding his senior year of high school and graduated from
Lakewood High School, Cleveland, Ohio, and Dartmouth College, with a B.S. Degree; attended Dartmouth Medical School in Hanover, New Hampshire 1924-1926; Harvard Medical School 1926-1928; Mayo Clinic 1929-1930; University of Minnesota 1930-1931, where he received a Master of Science in Pathology. He was a professor at Dartmouth Medical School and consulting pathologist; also staff physician at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Hanover, New Hampshire. While on a mercy mission flight on February 21, 1959 with Dr. Robert E. Quinn, the plane crashed in the White Mountain National Forest, about seven miles east of Lincoln, New Hampshire. They survived at least four days and were found on May 5, 1959. He kept a diary while awaiting death. The children of Elizabeth Given6 Skolfield and Ralph English Miller were:
i. Elizabeth Given7 Miller was born 13 November 1928; married William Creighton Congdon.
ii. Barbara Jane Miller was born 13 January 1930; married, first, Theodore Randall; married,
second, Burton Malcolm Sapin.
iii. Ralph English Miller, Jr. was born 23 September 1933; married Pamela Adams Gundersen.
