Lela Margie Hackney, 65, of Mount Vernon, died Tuesday, March 13, 2012. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 15, at Bishop-Griffin Funeral Home in Greenbrier. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 16, at Marcus Hill Baptist Church, with Bro. Joe Kennedy. Burial will follow in Marcus Hill Cemetery.

Lela was born in Oil Trough, Ark., to the late Robert C. Brown and Elizabeth Linville Brown.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Hackney; and brothers, Vick Brown and Otis Brown.

Survivors include her sons, Jimmy Brown and wife, Evietta (Veeta), of Mount Vernon, Timmy Wilkerson and wife, Tina, of Overcut, and Chris Brown, of Gravesville; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Eugene Brown and wife, Opal, of Damascus, Argene Brown and wife, Judy, of Tennessee, Sam Brown and wife, Pat, of Damascus, Dwight Brown and wife, Rosa, of Guy, and Joe Brown, of Quitman; sisters, Lorene Lens and Gary Brown, of Quitman, Janice Ruple and husband, Jimbo, of Damascus, Jeanie Mandosa and husband, Antonio, of Conway, Susan Tucker, of Quitman, Audrey Kennedy and husband, Joe, of Quitman, and Mary Bowie and husband, David Jr., of Greenbrier; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.
