John Jacob Haug, aged 55, well known retired farmer, died at 2:15 o'clock Friday afternoon at his home on White Oak avenue, following a brief illness from a complication of ailments. He was stricken Wednesday evening, just two hours after a daughter, Mrs Otto Rittberger, was taken to a local hospital for an operation.
Mr. Haug was born and reared in Germany but came to America and settled on a farm in Wayne township when 21 years of age. He married Friederike Louise Kohler in 1895 in Wheeling, West Virginia and she survives.
He was a member of the Pilgrim Evangelical church and is survived by five children: Jacob Jr., Carl and Edward Haug, of the city, Miss Helena Haug, at home; six sisters and three brothers reside in Germany. He also leaves seven grandchildren.
Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Zanesville
