GEORGE HAYDEN MILLER (Republican) Missouri State Senator, 15th District, was born June 11, 1907 in Polk County, Missouri. Educated in Urbana High School, Bolivar High School, Southwest Baptist College, and Southwest Missouri State Teachers College. Taught in the public schools of Hickory and Polk Counties for six years. Served as President of the Baptist Student Union in 1928. He served as a lay minister.

Beginning in 1934, he served three terms as President of the Young Republican Club of Hickory County. Elected to two terms as Hickory County Prosecuting Attorney, 1937-1940. Elected to the Missouri State Senate in November 1940. In 1944, he was the Republican nominee for Attorney General of Missouri having won the primary election over three opponents. He received 49.1 percent of the vote in the general election against J.E. "Buck" Taylor, the Democrat nominee and successful candidate.

He practiced law in Sedalia for 44 years. He was a member of Hermitage Missouri Masonic Lodge and the American Legion. He was a Navy Veteran serving in World War II and served as a trustee of Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar, Missouri.

He died in Kansas City, Missouri at St. Luke's Hospital on December 10, 1986. He was the son of Eddie H. and Maybelle Huckaby Miller. At the time of his death, he was survived by Georgia, his wife; John, his son; Audie, his brother; Bonnie, his sister; and two grandchildren.
