Injuries received in an automobile wreck Tuesday evening resulted in the death of Mrs. Florence A. Hazel, 65-year-old wife of Burton Hazel and resident of 611 West Wylie Street, Friday evening at 5:15 o'clock at the Bloomington hospital.

Mrs. Hazel was brought to the local hospital Friday night from Martinsville where the fatal crash occurred in a dense fog as Mr. and Mrs. Hazel and their daughter, Mrs. Booker Wilson of Van Buren township, were leaving the Martinsville city limits. She sustained a broken thigh, a broken ankle and a fractured right elbow.

The body has been taken to the Day funeral home to remain until the hour of final services.

Funeral rites will be held at 3 o'clock Monday afternoon at the local First Christian church of which Mrs. Hazel was a member and with the Rev. W. E. Moore officiating. Pallbearers will be Paul L. Lentz, Clarence Brewer, John Thrasher, Millard Axsiom, Horace Robertson and Noble Henderson. Wives of pallbearers will serve as flower bearers.

Interment will be in the Clear Creek cemetery.

A native of Monroe county and the daughter of Alfred and Rebecca Boyd Wright, Mrs. Hazel was the wife of a former Bloomington fire chief.

Tuesday's accident was the third which the 65-year-old lady had sustained, having been required to use crutches since 1929 when she suffered a fractured hip in an auto accident. She received a fractured arm in a second wreck five years ago and despite her misfortunes had regained active and normal health.

The wreck near Martinsville occurred as Mrs. Wilson, driving at low speed through dense fog, failed to follow the state road as it turns southwest in front of the Martinsville high school. The car crashed into a brick column at the Martinsville cemetery entrance which is located at the extreme end of south Main street. The three were enroute to Bloomington after having visited another daughter, Mrs. Earl Burch, whose home is in Logansport.

Mrs. Hazel was a member of the Fireman's Auxiliary and the Garrison Chapel Ladies Aid. She married William H. Douglas in 1897 with whom she lived until his death in 1908. She married the surviving husband in 1909. Children surviving are Mrs. Elsie Douglas Wilson of west of Bloomington, Mrs. Oneta Hazel Davis of South Lincoln Street, Mrs. Marie Hazel Burch of Logansport and a step-daughter, Mrs. Carl Hawkins of West Wylie Street.

Two brothers, Sherman I. Wright, county Assessor, and Grant Wright of Tulare, Calif., also survive as do eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
