Sarah was the daughter of Stephen Brown (1715-1795) and Ruth Ballou (1720-1806). She was born fairly late in her parents' lives, on 30 June 1763 in Cumberland, Providence County, Rhode Island, and died in Granite in her 86th year.
William Sheldon died in 1809 and is buried in Cumberland.
Sarah was a widow for some 40 years and she must have been living in Granite with one of her children, almost certainly her son Pardon Sheldon, who is also buried here. William and Sarah also had a son named Stephen Brown Sheldon after her father. (information provided by contributor Jim Jones)
