Mark Bellrose Funeral to Be Held Sunday

Funeral services for T/5 Mark James Bellrose 26 who died,in New Guinea of a heart attack May 28,
1944 and who is the second of this community's war dead to be returned for burial will he held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock from the Weston and Woodard funeral home in Sandy Creek. Rev. Mary Carnahan of Redfleid will conduct the service. Burial will be in Wesleyan cemetery east of Lacona, where military honors will be given by the firing squad from Cable Trail Post V.F.W., Sandy
Creek. Prior to the funeral, friends may call at the funeral home Saturday evening from 7:30 to 9:30. The family has requested that no flowers be
sent.

T/5 Bellrose was serving in the Coast Artillery at the time of his death. He enlisted January 28, 1942 and before going overseas was stationed at Bustis, Florida. He served in the Pacific Theater of Operations, being stationed on New Guinea at the time of his death. He was the first man in his outfit to die.

Born in Boylston, Mr. Bellrose was born May 4, 1918 in the town of Boylston, and was the son of the late Lewis Bellrose, and Mrs. Edna Borden Bellrose. He spent most of his life in Boylston and lived at Fernwood for a short time.

Before entering the army he was a farmer and mechanic. As a boy he was active in 4-H club work. January 2, 1943 while stationed in Florida he was married to Miss Mary Adams of Eustis, Florida, who surviyes him, -with, one daughter, Marilyn; his mother, Mrs. Edna Bellrose, Lacona, five sisters, Mrs. Margaret Britton of Williamstown, Mrs. Marian Noble of North Creek; Mrs. Doris Groff of Richland, Mrs. Esther Caulkins of Adams Center and Mrs. Mildred Snedeker of Lacona, and one brother, John Bellrose, of Florida who married T/5 Bellrose's widow in April, 1946
