He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Coahoma and a member of the Sand Springs Lions Club.

He was blessed with two daughters: Amy Choate and Polly Campbell; four sons: Michael J. Barbee, Tim Barbee, David Barbee and Neal Barbee. He had nine grandchildren: Chad Winn, April Choate, Melanie and Justin Barbee, Corey Green, Rachel and Devin Barbee and Lane and Trent Campbell.
