Obituary
OPELOUSAS - Funeral services for Mr. Gerald Mark Richard, age 51, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 20, 2012, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park. Msgr. Keith DeRouen will celebrate the Mass.

Gerald passed away on Friday, March 16, 2012, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette. He was born in Lafayette and was a past resident of Opelousas. He was currently residing in Krotz Springs. He enjoyed listening to Cajun Music, watching sports, eating Hershey candy bars, playing games and Facebook. He has a great spirit about him and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by five brothers: Joseph Lally Stelly and wife, Monica of Castro Valley, CA; Kenneth John Richard and wife, Becky of Scott; Glenn Anthony Richard and fiancé, Karin Weinzierl of Vancleave, MS; John Floyd Juneau of Westwego; and Charles Landry and wife, Susan of Arnaudville; five sisters: Dorothy Ann Burleigh and husband, Paul of Krotz Springs; Mary Alice Jarreau and husband, Johnny of Lakeland; (Twin-sister), Geraldine "Dina" Stelly and husband, Donald of Carencro; Vickie Lynn Thomas and husband, Randy of Opelousas; and Vernadine Leger of Lafayette; one sister-in-law, Karen Tate Stelly and companion, Charley of Sunset. He is also survived by his godchildren, Jessica Laird Garate of Edinburg, TX; Kayla Manuel of Krotz Springs; and Cody Christian of Gloster, MS; his godmother, Jane "Nanny Jane" Ryder of Lawtell; and many nieces, nephews, loving family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jean Batiste Richard, Jr. and Yola Marie Prejean Richard; two brothers, Floyd Paul Stelly and John Earl Richard; one sister, Barbara Marie Laird; and his nephew, Paul Wesley Stelly.

Pallbearers will be Dwayne Tate, Johnny Jarreau, Stuart Olinde, Seth Thomas, Stuart Daigle, Scotty Stelly, Michael Stelly, and Michael Burleigh. Honorary pallbearers will be Brennan Daigle, Troy Trahan, David Olinde, and J. J. Richard.

Visitation will begin at 4 pm on Monday, March 19, 2012, with an all night visitation until 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. A Rosary service will be held at 6 pm on Monday evening in the funeral home.
