Fae Erma Baer was born on October 6, 1927 to Joseph and Emma (Schnarr) Milton in rural Brandt, SD where she was raised and attended school. Fae was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith.

On July 25, 1947 she was united in marriage to Gordon Engesmoe. On February 1, 1948 Gordon passed away.

Fae married Erwin Baer on January 6, 1952 at the Wood Lake Lutheran Church rural Astoria, SD. Following their marriage, they lived and farmed near Burr, Minnesota where she helped Erwin with baling, raking, plowing or wherever she was needed. After 40 years on the farm, they moved to Canby, MN. Later they moved to Sylvan Assisted Living in Canby for 3 years before Fae's health required her to move to the Sylvan Court Nursing Home. Fae passed away at the Sanford Canby Medical Center in Canby on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at the age of 83 years, 9 months, and 10 days.

Fae was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gary, SD where she was active in the Ladies Aid. Erwin and Fae spent time dancing prior to marrying and continued for many years afterwards, even joining a number of their friends in a square dancing club. They enjoyed many card parties with neighbors and relatives. She spent many years with her friends painting and wallpapering for others. She enjoyed knitting, refinishing furniture and was an accomplished seamstress. She made quilts and took classes to learn how to make hats. She enjoyed gardening, especially flowers. She also enjoyed music and was known to sing as she worked, sharing songs with the family, and sometimes playing the piano. Fae was a lover of animals. Besides the usual farm animals, she had her hand in raising rabbits, parakeets, cats, and even a peacock, but was probably best known for bringing home orphaned dogs.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Gordon Engesmoe; parents, Joseph and Emma Milton; brothers: Harold, Leeferd, William and Clarence Milton and sisters: Fern Svoboda, Elaine Moravetz, Gloria Juenke and Joyce Milton.

Fae is lovingly remembered by her husband, Erwin Baer, Canby, MN; children: Gordon (Bonnie) Engesmoe, Canby, MN, Debra (Gerald) Hauge, Big Lake, MN, Douglas (Joan) Baer, Brooklyn Center, MN and Gary (Deanna) Baer, Canby, MN; 11 grandchildren: Tori (Matthew) Christiaansen, Jesse (Jennifer) Engesmoe, Mikk Engesmoe, Erik Hauge, Jenny Hauge, Jory (Megan) Baer, Jamie (Kevin Zea) Baer, Derek Baer, Cody Baer, Tyler Baer and Casie Baer and 8 great grandchildren; brothers-in-law: Vernon Moravetz, Eldro Juenke and Arnold (Eldeen) Baer; sisters-in-law: Nyla Milton and Barbara Milton; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
