A Noble Man Gone -
Mr. William Schoening, aged 31 years and six days, passed from life at his home five miles southwest of this city on December 6th, 1893 of lung fever.
On Friday, December 8th, 1893, the remains were bourn from his residence to this city followed by a large number of sorrowing friends and neighbors. The procession was met at the B & M crossing by the silver cornet band and members of Loup City camp No. 636, M.W.A., and the Germania Verien, of which orders the deceased was an honored member. The procession marched to the Methodist Episcopal church where services were held, the sermon being preached by Rev. F. C. Jenny, of Custer county, in the German language. From the church the remains were bourn to Evergreen cemetery, where they were laid in their last resting place.
The deceased leaves a wife and four small children to mourn his loss, Mrs. Schoening being quite sick at the time of her husband's death. His parents and a brother also live in this county. He was a dutiful husband, kind father and good neighbor, and was honored by all who knew him, and is greatly missed in this community.
Mr. William Schoening was born in Germany in 1862, came to America in 1879, locating at Grand Island, this state, moving from there to Missouri where he stayed but a short time, coming to Sherman county in 1884, where he resided until the time of his death, on his farm.
The Times-Indepenedent extends sympathy to the sorrowing relations.
