Josephine L (Jotter) Cady born to Lena Swartz and John Franklin Jotter at Fort Niobraro Nebraska. Her parents both had untimly deaths. Her father supposedly drinking carbolic acid acidently, and her mother killed from behind by a suposedly accidental discharge of a pistol at a party at the Fort.
The family was well off at the time and the Banker in town was made trustee of the funds. Josephine was sent to a teachers college eventually to learn to be a teacher in Valentine Nebraska, Her brother Albert became a farmer. buy the time Josephine got out of college the Banker had taken off with the trust fund and was suposedly (convently killed in a boating accident in Florida) Some of the funds had been spent by her mothers family Swartz.
Josephine taught school in Valentine. she met her husband to be Randal Joe Cady who worked for the Churn Ranch and he and his brother had a ranch.
Joe and Josephine moved to Black Hills South Dakota and he worked in the mines there. Then they moved to Coeurd' A leane Idaho and he worked in the Silver mines in Kellog. He got miners lung and soon became ill and then had a stroke and was unable to work. Josephine then went to work as a Teacher in one room school at Clear Creek near Kooskia ID . He husband became more ill and he left a note and disappeared never to be seen again. They assumed he commited suiside.
Josephine continued to teach , she finally taught at Clarkia ID then for a short time at Lapwai ID and then She taught school at Peck Idaho for several years then retired. She was a well liked lady by all . After retiring she did work for one year in Oregon at on one room school on Paradise Ridge. The quit for good. She lived between her children and her home at her oldest sons place. Mostly spending Thanksgiving , Christmas and New Years at her daughter Barbara home. She had 5 children Fred, Wanda, Jean, Richard and Barbara.
She was a most sweet and kind person. If she was upset her worst words were stars and garters. She had moved her daughter Barbara to Clarkston to become a more refined girl in a larger school . Her daughter graduated for Clarkston High.
Josephine came to her daughters place for a visit in 1988 and was there about a week became ill and died.
