Grace E. Christopher, 91, passed away on Friday, March 16, 2012, at 4000 Valley Square Oakcrest in Grand Forks, ND.
Grace was born December 5, 1920, in Emerado, ND, the daughter of Michael & Emma (Severson) McGrath. She grew up and attended school in Emerado. She also attended UND.
Grace married Ernest Christopher on March 7, 1943 in Inglewood, CA. Together Ernie and Grace opened Christopher Laundry in 1955, later to be renamed C & R Laundry and Dry Cleaners. Grace also owned Brownie Cleaners in East Grand Forks, MN.
She served as partner and office manager before retiring with Ernie in 1974. She also worked for Home Delivered Meals at Altru during her retirement.
Grace was an active member of United Lutheran Church for over 60 years, participating in Bible study and Women's Circle. She enjoyed playing cards, cribbage, needlework and crochet, but she had a real passion for her daily crossword puzzles.
Grace is survived by her daughter, Donna (Thomas) Horton of Grand Forks; granddaughter, Kristi (Tony) Bruno of Maple Grove, MN; great-grandchildren, Alex Bruno and Kate Bruno of Maple Grove, MN; sister-in-law, Lorriane McGrath of Roseville, MN; and close family friend, Michael Grandall of Grand Forks.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ernest; son, Dale; and brother, James McGrath.
