Thomas E. Evans, age 82, of New Castle, DE went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 13, 2012. Mr. Evans enjoyed the horse races at Delaware Park and playing poker. He also enjoyed his visits at Howard Weston Senior Center where he played shuffle board and eating lunch with his friends. He cherished his grandchildren and family.
Mr. Evans is survived by his son, Steve Evans; daughters: Peggy Cole, Ellen Leonard and husband John, Janice Evans; brother, Edgar Evans; grandchildren: John, Fran and wife Lora, Dan and wife Missy, Ed, Jeff, and Jennifer and husband Chad; and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta Evans.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 in Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Road, Newark, DE 19702 from 10:30am-11:30am followed by a service in celebration of Thomas's life at 11:30am. Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear. The family suggests memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice, 3515 Silverside Road, Ste. 100, Wilmington, DE 19810.
