Son of Edward Amendt & Dessie Estelle (Hilton) Amendt. Brother of Edward Earl Amendt & Mary Louise (Amendt) Williams.

Private First Class Amendt was a member of the 1st Shore Party Battalion, 1st Marine Division. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in Korea on October 2, 1950. Private First Class Amendt was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean War Service Medal.
