Edna Nuttall Giles Hickman, age 92, died October 14, 2003 in Provo, Utah.

Born September 7, 1911 in Provo, Utah. She was the third daughter and fifth child born to Joseph Francis and Clara Clarkson Nuttall Giles. She married Robert Rex Hickman on April 26, 1935 and their marriage was later solemnized in the Provo Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Edna graduated from Provo High School in 1930 after serving on the staff of the school newspaper and as a member of the Quill and Scroll Society. She was also a graduate of the LDS seminary program. She attended Brigham Young University for one year prior to her marriage. As a homemaker raising two children, she found time to join the P.T.A. at Maeser School and served one year as president where she was instrumental in beginning the school lunch program at Maeser. Also, as a life-long member of the LDS Church, she served in the Primary organization at both ward and stake levels. She also served in Relief Society over the years as a teacher and later in life as a worker in the Provo Temple

In 1957 when the children were in college, she went to work as a bridal consultant in the gifts and china departments for Heindselmans Jewelry in Provo where she worked for 18 years. During this time she joined and participated in the activities of the Provo Business and Professional Womens Club, the Provo Womens Council, and the Womens Chamber of Commerce.

She enjoyed sewing, knitting, dancing, and most of all, her family.

Edna is survived by her son, Kenneth R. Hickman of Winchester, California, her daughter, Jane H. Clark of Lansing, Michigan, and a brother, Fred N. Giles of Provo, Utah.Ê Her posterity includes 14 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 18, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the Provo 1st Ward Chapel, 200 South 100 East, Provo. Friends may call Saturday at the church beginning at 12:30 p.m. Interment will be in the Provo City Cemetery immediately following the services, under the direction of Berg Mortuary
