Ima Jessie Hobbs, 97, passed away July 7, 2011 in Fredericksburg, TX. She was born on August 7, 1913 in Blanco Co. to Jessie Edwin Sublett and Lillie Ethel Edwards Sublett.
Ima was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sister, husband of 32 years, Harvie Monroe Hobbs, son, Delbert Van Hobbs, and infant son, Henry Hobbs.
She is survived by two sons, Edwin Jefferson "EJ" Hobbs and wife Mary and Glen Harvey Hobbs and wife Eileen "Snuffy;" nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, as well as many other loving relatives and dear friends.
Ima was a member of the First Baptist Church in Johnson City and Eastern Star. Her greatest passion was her faith and her family. She always had a big garden, bread baking in the oven and something sweet on her table "just in case" she had company. She will always be remembered for her quick wit, beautiful smile, great laugh, and warm heart, not to mention her baked goodies, noodle salad and her delight in taking our picture. She was such a big part of the community; when she was dispersing her property prior to going in to the nursing home, friends, family and neighbors wanted something she had used in cooking and housekeeping. She had more energy in her 90s than most people have in their 20s. She was truly an amazing woman and will be sorely missed. Although we are suffering her loss, Heaven is rejoicing in her homecoming. Welcome home Ima and thank you for letting us be a part of your adventure here on earth.
Pallbearers were great-grandsons Kent Lawson, Dillion Doyle, Dustin Doyle, Derek Doyle, Bradley Cox, and Jason Cox. Honorary pallbearers were great-grandsons Dakota Paul, Paul Moellering, Mark Moellering, Seth Moellering, Luke Moellering, Shane Hobbs, Colton Hobbs, Brett Haugeberg, Christopher Moore and great-granddaughters Whitney Lawson, Brooke Haugeberg, and Melinda Russett.
Visitation was 5:00pm to 7:00pm Sunday, July 10, 2011, at Crofts Funeral Home in Johnson City. Funeral services were held at 10:00am Monday morning at First Baptist Church of Johnson City. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Miller Creek Cemetery Association, First Baptist Church of Johnson City or a charity of your choice.
