Couple Dies

Mrs. W.T. Jenkins, 89,
member of a pioneer Colquitt
county family and a longtime
resident of Route 1, Doerun,
died Wednesday in Sunrise
Nursing Home here following
an extended illness.

She was the former Miss
Julia Tucker, widow of the
late W.T. Jenkins, who died
in 1948.

Funeral services will be held
at 11:00 A.M. Friday in Mt.
Sinai Baptist Churh, with burial
following in the Sinai cemetery.
The Rev. Quinton Barnes and Rev.
Miles Avera will officiate.

Mrs.Jenkins was the daughter
of the late J.C. Tucker and Mrs.
Sallie Newton Tucker, early Colquitt
county settlers, and she was born
on March 4, 1890 in this county.
She was active in Mt. Sinai Church
until her health failed. Death occurred
at 11:20 A.M. on July 4th.

The body will lie in state at
Henderson Funeral Home until
placed in the church an hour
before the rites.

Surviving Mrs. Jenkins are two
sons, Felton Jenkins, Bonaire, Ga.,
and Durward Jenkins, Atlanta; one
daughter, Miss Doris Jenkins,
Route 1, Doerun; two brothers,
W.R. Tucker, Funston, and
Elsie Tucker, Moultrie;
16 grandchildren; 11 great
grandchildren; and several nieces
and nephews.
