ROBERT MILTENBERGER

Robert H. Miltenberger II, 77, of Lexington, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at his home.

He was born in Dayton, Ohio, a son of the late Robert Miltenberger and Corrine Mil­teberger. He graduated from Harvard University in 1956 with a bachelor of arts degree in history, and from the Uni­versity of Michigan Law School in 1959.

He served in the Army Na­tional Guard as a first lieu­tenant in the Judge Advocates Corps. He joined the law firm of Hodgson, Russ, Andrews, Woods & Goodyear and was a partner in the Buffalo, N.Y., and later, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., locations. In 1986 he be­came a partner in the Ruden, McClosky law firm in Fort Lauderdale, where he re­mained until retiring in 2001 and moving to Lexington.

He was active in various organizations in Fort Laud­erdale, including the First Bap­tist Church, where he served as co-chairman of fundraising for a new church. After mov­ing to Lexington, he was a member of Manly Memorial Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce; sons, Robert Miltenberger III of West Granby, Conn., and Timothy Miltenberger of Durham, Conn; and three granddaughters.

The funeral was conducted Saturday, Feb. 4, at Manly Memorial Baptist Church by Dr. J. Michael Wilkins. Burial followed at Stonewall Jackson Cemetery. Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory handled the arrangements.

Robert H. Miltenberger, II, 77 of Lexington, Virginia, died peace­fully at home on Wednesday, Feb­ruary 01,2012. He was a beloved husband and father whose wis­dom and love touched those around him. He was born in Day­ton, Ohio, to the late Robert and Corrine Miltenberger. He gradu­ated from Harvard University with a BA in History in 1956, and earned his JD from the University of Michigan Law School in 1959. He served in the Army National Guard as a 1st Lt. in the JudgeAd­vocates Corp. He joined the law firm of Hodgson, Russ, Andrews, Woods & Goodyear and was a partner in the Buffalo, N.Y. and later, Ft. Lauderdale locations. In 1986 he became a partner in the Ruden, McClosky law firm in Ft. Lauderdale until his retirement in 2001 when he moved to Lexing­ton.

Bob was very active in the Ft. Lauderdale community. He was past Chairman of the Board of the Chamber of Commerce and Founding Chairman of Leadership Broward. He was active in the Harvard Club and served as Pres­ident of both the Buffalo and Ft. Lauderdale Clubs. He served as an Adjunct Faculty Member at Nova University in the MBA pro­gram and had been a member of the Advisory Board. Mr. Mil­tenberger served as Director of Broward Economic Development Board and as Trustee of the City of Ft. Lauderdale Employees' Pension Fund. He served on the Board of Directors of the Fellow­ship of Christian Athletes and was past Chairman of the Sports Law Committee of the Florida Bar Assoc. Mr. Miltenberger was ac­tive in First Baptist Church of Ft. Lauderdale and was Co-Chairman of Fund Raising for the new church. At the time of his death he was a member of Manly Memorial Baptist Church in Lexington. Bob loved history and made many trips to Gettysburg.

He was a member and sup­porter of the Civil War Preservation Trust. Soon after being diagnosed with Parkinson's dis­ease, he rode his Harley Davidson to the Pacific Ocean following the Lewis &. Clark trail. He was an avid golfer and trout fisherman.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce and sons Robert, III (Susan) of W. Granby, CT., Timo­thy (Regina) of Durham, CT., three granddaughters, Sara, Caroline and Samantha, and his faithful companion, Pepper. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, February 4,2012 at the Manly Memoriall Baptist Church in Lexington with the Dr. J. Michael Wilkins officiating. Burial will follow at Stonewall Jackson Cemetery. Family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, February 3, 2012 at Harrison Funeral Home.
