This is in response to your inquiry pertaining to the burial location of a Civil War soldier Private Daniel Gleason, Company E, 1st MI Infantry.

We searched Record Group 92: Records of the Quartermaster General's Office specifically under Annapolis National Cemetery in the following entries:

*Entry 627: Burial Registers of Military Posts and National Cemeteries, 1862-1960.

*Entry 629: Lists of Union Soldiers Buried in Various National Cemeteries, 1861-79.

Furthermore, we searched the Nationwide Gravesite Indicator and we were unable to identify any burial records pertaining to Private Daniel Gleason, Company E, 1st MI Infantry.

When Private Daniel Gleason died, he was probably buried at the nearest national military cemetery or site of his death. Following the Civil War, his remains were probably disinterred to be reinterred at another cemetery. Unfortunately, with the passage of time he probably ended up being buried as an unknown soldier.
