Terry Duane Cook, 65, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 23, 2012 in Nebraska. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 3rd at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas. Committal Services and Interment will be 12:30 p.m., Monday, March 5th at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas. There will also be a Memorial Service in Terry's honor at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 11th at Bethel Church in North Platte, Nebraska. The family requests that contributions to The Wounded Warrior Project.

Terry was born December 8, 1946 in Junction City, Kansas to Charles and Marianne (Dannenbring) Cook. He grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah where he graduated high school and began his college career. Terry joined the Navy after three years of college and was a personnel man. He served two tours in the Vietnam War, once on a USS Destroyer and the other on a salvage and rescue ship. He met his wife, Marcia McGraw at a church-sanctioned beach party in Hawaii and they were married six months later in Liberty, Missouri. Shortly after their marriage, Terry left on an eight month tour and when he returned, they had their first child Kristianne. After leaving the Navy as an E5, they moved back to Salt Lake City, where Terry finished his college degree. The family then moved to Kansas City, where Terry attended Central Baptist Seminary. He then served as Youth Pastor for one church, then as Pastor for Oak Grove Baptist Church. During this time, their children Vincent and Kimberly were born. The family moved to Monon, Indiana to serve as Pastor of First Baptist Church. Following a brief return to Kansas City, they relocated back to Monon to break ground on their church, Monon Community Church. During his time in Monon, Terry enlisted in the Army Reserves as a Chaplain. In 1982, he decided to become an active duty Army Chaplain. He served at Fort Hood, Texas, at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii, at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C., and transferred to Fort Riley, Kansas. After completing his tour at S.H.A.P.E in Belgium, he retired from active duty Army chaplaincy in 1999. The family returned to Kansas City following his retirement. In 2005, Terry began working as the Hospital Chaplain at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte, Nebraska, where he worked until his passing.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Marianne and Charles Cook.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Marcia J. Cook, of Kansas City, Kansas, his daughter Kristianne and son-in-law Dr. Bradley Wargo of Huxley, Iowa and their children Keilyn, Devin, Ashley, Noah and Graysen, his son Vince Cook of Kansas City, Kansas, his daughter Kimberly Wisener of Kansas City, Kansas and her daughter Haili Grace Wisener, his step-mother Lori Cook and his step-siblings, Alan Keefe , Brett Keefe, Chris Keefe, and Dawn Lehmberg, his "wing man" golden retriever K.C., and many family and friends.
