Kenneth Lynn Brown passed away on Sunday evening, March 4, 2012 at Tahoe Pacific Hospital in Reno, Nevada. He was 81.

Ken was born in Watsonville, California on April 5, 1930 the son of Archie and Flora Brown. His growing up years were spent in California and he graduated from Oakdale High School with the class of 1949.

Ken served in the U.S. Navy on board the USS Caliente during the Korean War from 1950 to 1954. After his service he moved to Yerington and was employed at the Anaconda Copper Company mine. During the following years he also worked at Thrifty Market and for Petrolane Gas Company in Yerington.

In 1959 he purchased the Westerner Sporting Goods store in Yerington and during this time he became a Honda Mortorcycle dealer and also carried the Triumph and Hodaka cycles and maintained a full inventory of cycle accessories and a full inventory of cycle repair parts. He became an exclusive Honda dealer and in 1977 opened The Honda Shop located at 215 West Goldfield Avenue and continued in that business until 1986 when he retired. During this time he served several terms as a Director on the Nevada Franchised Morocycle Dealers Association, and was an avid spokesman for the sport cycling.

Ken and his wife, Lita, opened Senti-Me Pastas in 1986, and made ravioli, sauces, etc., until 1993, when they both officially retired. Shortly thereafter Ken went to work for his son, Darrol, at D&S Waste Removal in Yerington. He was involved in the Transfer Station and all aspects of the business, but the best part for him was that he continued to repair and build motorcycles for his sons, Darrol and Kevin, and assisted many other young riders and local people in Yerington with their cycle needs. This was his love and he was still involved in assisting and offering his advice and help in any way he could up until shortly before his death.

Ken and Lita were married on January 22, 1956 and celebrated 56 years of marriage this year. They were blessed with two sons, Darrol and Kevin.

He is survived by his wife, his sons, Darrol (Susan) and Kevin (Kristen); granddaughter, Meghan; step grandchildren, Jennifer Tackitt and Melissa Spangle, Jessica and Travis Dean; his sister, Eleanor and her family, his brother, Cecil and his family; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Clarence, Donald and Myrl.

A Rosary will be recited for Ken 6:00 pm Friday, March 9th at the Holy Family Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Saturday, March 10th at Holy Family Catholic Church, 37 N. West Street, Yerington. A reception will follow the service at the Catholic Center.

Arrangements are under the direction of Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home, 25 Hwy 208, Yerington, NV 89447 (775) 463-2911.
