Hermann Albert Gustav Poch, son of Caroline (Nagel) Poch (aka Pauch), daughter of Christiane 'Christine' (Horn) Nagel, daughter of Christian Friedrich Horn) was born June 04, 1856 in Prussia, and died March 24, 1905 in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan. Herman was buried 27 March 1905 in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Detroit.

Herman came to America in 1864 with his parents and younger brother Louis. They settled in Detroit, Michigan where they took membership in the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. Two more brothers were born in Detroit, Emil and Rudolf. Around 1873 the family went to Belknap Township, Presque Isle County, Michigan, where the youngest brother Gustav was born in 1873.

He married Clara Rosalia Wischnofske August 03, 1879, in Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Moltke Township, Rogers City, Michigan, daughter of Johann Wischnofske and Wilhelmine Hoeft. She was born July 21, 1861 in Prussia, and died June 08, 1935 in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan. She was buried 11 June 1935 in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery [Section Q – Lot 11]– Detroit.

Herman is listed as 'teamster' in the Rogers City 1880 census.

Hermann is listed as a 'carpenter' at 21 Krettner in the 1890 Buffalo, New York directory. It is not known when Herman and Clara moved from Rogers City to Buffalo, New York. But apparently they did not stay in Buffalo for very long.

Herman is listed as "carpenter" in the Detroit 1895 city Directory, living at 27 Zender. This is the same house as for August and Hermina Hoeft as shown in the 1920 census.

From his death certificate he is shown as a carpenter. He died of stomach cancer.
