Lester "Jim" Swaim, 73, a resident of Westdale Avenue, died Friday evening, May 13, 2011, in the Hinkle Hospice House.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard in Forest Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
He was born Sept. 22, 1937, in Guilford County. Mr. Swaim was a retired veteran with the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard, with twenty-two years of service. He along with his wife participated in the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programs, with Cone Hospital (Greensboro), Eden Hospital (Eden) and High Point Regional Hospital (High Point). He was preceded in death by his mother, Annie Ward Brown; and a sister, Patricia "Patsy" Swaim.

On Nov. 12, 1989, he was married to Lucy Morrow, who survives of the home.

Also surviving are a daughter, two sons, his father, two brothers, 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
