Jane Agnor Phillips of Harrisonburg, formerly of Lexington, died Thursday, June 24, 2004 at the Sunnyside Retirement Community. Mrs. Phillips was born May 23, 1915 in Rockbridge County; the daughter of the late George Abner Agnor and Lula Ayers Agnor. Mrs. Phillips was married to the late Dr. Merton O. Phillips, who was professor of Economics and Commerce at Washington & Lee University and also the author of several college textbooks. Mrs. Phillips was a secretary for the Sigma Nu International Fraternity. She retired from that position in 1979.

Surviving are a daughter, Barbara P. Reid & husband Willard C. Reid of Woodstock; and a son M. O. Phillips, III of Wardensville, WV; two sisters, Mrs. Helen A. Reynolds and husband Everette D. and Mrs. Ruth A. Lackey and husband Fred B., all of Lexington.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, June 25, 2004 in the Stonewall Jackson Cemetery with Rev. Paul O'Gorek and Dr. J. Michael Wilkins officiating. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity of choice. Arrangements by the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington.
