Spec. 4/c U.S. Army, Vietnam War-Spec. Nichols was killed by an explosive device while serving as an {11B20} Infantryman with Co. D of the 4th Battallion of the 47th Infantry Regiment of the 9th Infantry Division. Spec. Nichols started his tour o Vietnam on November 21, 1968.

He is the son of Mr. & Mrs. James W. Nichols of 8204 Cameo Drive in Rockford, Illinois.

Awards: Purple Heart Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Vietnam Service Medal with One Service Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal.
