George Peter Pappas Died April 20,2011 Killingly - George Peter Pappas of Killingly, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at Matulaitis Nursing Home in Putnam, after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's disease. He was born on March 23rd in Brooklyn, one of seven sons, to Peter K. Pappas and Helen (Tsakonas) Pappas. George married Roxanne Teguis on June 22, 1952 in Webster, MA. George was a veteran of WWII and proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the Danielson Elks Club and Putnam Rotary Club. He was proud of his heritage and religion and served on the Board of The Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church as Treasurer and was a member of the Order of AHEPA. George also served on the Board of Directors at Jewett City Savings Bank. George was the owner of Michael's Supermarket in Jewett City along with his brother Michael. Prior to this, he established the Putnam branch for Sherwin Williams and successfully operated that business. George was a true gentleman who instilled integrity, and family values in his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed interacting with people whether they were his family, friends or members of the community. He loved golfing, tennis and watching sports, particularly the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and sailing with his son, Michael. A devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by his wife, Roxanne Teguis Pappas; his daughter, Althea Pappas Caulkins, and her husband, Richard C. Caulkins, of Old Lyme and their three children, Nicole, Micaela, and Samantha; his son Michael G. Pappas also of Old Lyme and his wife Nicole (Abate) Pappas. He is also survived by two brothers, Trent P. Pappas and Carl P. Pappas, in addition to several nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his father Peter K. Pappas and his mother Helen (Tsakonas) Pappas; and four brothers, Thomas P. Pappas, Dino P. Pappas, Michael P. Pappas, and James P. Pappas. Westfield Cem
