DIXON - Susan Kay Busser, 49, passed from this life Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at Serenity Home in Oregon, surrounded by members of her family.
Susan was born July 25, 1962, in Freeport, the fourthchild of Duane and Caarol (Kloepping) Garkey. At Polo High School, she excelled in track, basketball and volleyball, garnering many awards and state medals. She loved playing golf and touched manly people over the years while working at Raynor, Woods and Conway Freight.
Susan battled cancer for 8 years, but cancer neverdefined her. Despite weekly treatments in Chicago, she remained her children's No. 1 fan, never missing a single sports or school activity. Her cocker spaniel, Nelly, never left her side.
Susan's legacy remains one of love, devotion and inspiration. Her life revolved around her steadfast faith in God, her children and Bob. She embodied quiet class, beauty, intelligence and accomplishment.l Her blonde soft curls framed a genuine smile that could warm your heart. And her heart most definitely belonged to the love of her life - Bob - for the past 15 years. She was our hero, inspired us daily with her courage and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by Bob Venier of Dixon; her wonderful children, Jason James of Naples, Fla., and Dylon Dane and Kaitlon Kay of Dixon; her parents of Polo; sistgers, Cindy (Mike) Sullivan of Polo and Janet of Madison, Wis.; brothers, David (Lori) of Winnebago and Rodney (Deb Bryan) of Polo; niece and nephews, Jessica and Matt Sullivan and Dan and Andrew Garkely; two great-nephews; and the father of Susan's children, Jim Busser of Polo.
Susan was preceded in death by her son, Damon Drew; and grandparents, Roy anld Esther Garkey and Ralph and Edith Davis.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m., with the rosary recited at 6 p.m., Sunday at St. Patrick's Parish Holloway Center in Dixon. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 Monday at St. Patrick Catholic Church Dixon, with the Rev. Paul White officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon.
In lieu of flowers, the family has respectfully requested that any contributions be made to the Susan Busser memorial fund for education expenses for the children.
