Craig was born on May 26, 1973, in Butte to John and Jane Newell.
Craig attended grade school at Beaver Dam and Ramsay, and Butte High until he transferred to Anaconda High and graduated in 1991.
After graduating, he worked at various jobs around different states. He was employed at Montana Resources at the time of his death. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and riding bikes.
Craig's greatest joy was his son, Jonathan.
Craig is survived by his wife, Rochelle; son, Jonathan; stepson, Nicholas Babcock; parents, John (Jane) Newell, Anaconda; father and mother-in-law, Steve (Jane) McCulloch, Anaconda; grandmother, Esther Violette, Opportunity; aunts and uncles, Sam (Shirley) Gill, Georgia, Nancy Vankirk, Anaconda. Walter (Rosemary) Choquette, Fairmont. Jim (Glenda) Violette, Spokane, Dave (Vickie) Violette, Deer Lodge, Rose Violette, Anaconda, Ron Violette, Helena; sister and brothers-in-law, Jerry (Kathy) McCulloch, Butte, Steve McCulloch, Basin, Andy (Shellaine) Eslinger, Corvallis, Cherie Bilodeau, Deer Lodge; and numerous cousins.
His brother preceded Craig in death, Chad (who was his best friend); grandfathers, Neil Violette and John Newell; grandmother, Ethel Newell; and uncles, Ernie Violette and Doug Violette.
Celebration of Life Services were at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 23, 2012, at the Hope Lutheran Church Anaconda.
