Lillie Mae Sumlin, a native of Camden, Alabama, was born March 29, 1926 to the parentage of Charlie and Annie Nevills. She was a resident of Mobile, Alabama for 72 years. She accepted Christ at an early age, and after moving to Mobile, Alabama she united with the Greater Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church #2. After serving as an usher there for many years, she united with the St. James Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Nathaniel Dortch. There she served as a faithful usher for 28 years without a murmur or complaint and fully served on her post. She was one who loved the Lord and was a very independent person who performed any task and instilled in her family to follow her example. She loved her family, her church, and HER PASTOR!!!!!! She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Nevills and Annie Nevills-Ross; two brothers, Robert and Willie Nevills; husband, Sam Sumlin and two sons, Isiah and Samuel Roberts. She leaves to cherish her memories, two sons Daniel (Barbara Ann) Roberts of Mobile, Alabama and David (Deborah) Sumlin of Jacksonville, Florida; two daughters, Jessie Mills and Neomia Koins both of Mobile, Alabama. She has eighteen grandchildren, thirty-eight great-grandchildren two great-great-grandchildren, and host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends; three devoted friends Sis. Irma Moore, Lillie Pettway, and Bessie Godfrey. The visitation will be Saturday, March 17, 2012 from 9am until funeral hour at 11am. The Funeral will be held at St. James Missionary Baptist Church 2846 St. James Dr. The services entrusted by Memorial Funeral Home.
