Dennis William Johns, a most beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully in his home in Lindon February 22, 2012. After battling Parkinson's Disease for 35 years he was accepted into the arms of his loving Heavenly Father.

Dennis was a man whose example of joy through adversity, constant faith in the Savior Jesus Christ, and perfect love impacted everyone who knew him. He was born March 27, 1942 in Phoenix Arizona to Gareld and Helen Johns. He was the 2nd child with 3 loving sisters. Later his family moved to Lynwood CA where he lived until College.

His childhood was full of laughter, love, and opportunities to express his adventurous spirit. He showed early signs of having great athletic abilities and he loved sports. He played varsity baseball and basketball all through high school and later went on to play for the Dodger's minor league baseball team. He went to college at BYU and played for the BYU baseball team his freshmen year and was also accepted to be on the basketball team as a walk-on player.

Dennis Johns was called to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the New England States mission in 1961 where he served faithfully for 2 years.

Upon returning he met the beautiful Judy Peterson and it was love at first sight for both of them. They met in July of 1964 and were married that September. This was the beginning of a tender relationship based upon unconditional love, long-suffering and patience as he was nurtured through his trial of facing Parkinson's Disease. Upon marriage they ventured to Utah so that Dennis could finish his degree at BYU majoring in Business Management. After graduating they went back to California for 25 years where Dennis worked as a leading salesman for his Father's company Western Chemical.

At the young age of 34, Dennis noticed the first symptoms of Parkinson's Disease. After suffering for years from this disabling disease, he was released peacefully into his Father's embrace. Even through his trials, he was a supportive husband, diligent Patriarch, and a loving Father of 6. Dennis triumphed in his endurance never uttering a single word of complaint. Every person who met him felt his overwhelming expressions of love and acceptance. He had qualities of devotion and unwavering faith that is an example to us all.

He was preceded in death by Gareld and Helen Johns and survived by his wife Judy of 48 years, his children: Laura (Jared) VanAllen, Darrin, Devin (Jarrie), Dallin (Karla), Allison (Steve) Johnson, and Janelle (Jeff) Gardner, 20 grandchildren, and 3 sisters: Charlene (Jim) Steele, Linda (Steve) Ebbert, and Debbie (Lee) Ranill. We love him tenderly, will miss him, and rejoice in his freedom from mortality.
