daughter of James Pleasant and Bertie Ellen (Bowlen) Cooper. She departed this life Friday, March 9, 2012 at the Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 81 years, 5 months and 21 days.

On July 29, 1947, Kathleen was united in marriage to Ray W. Carter Jr. in Lexington, Missouri.

Kathleen was employed at the Jackson County Courthouse and was President of the Eastern Jackson County Woman's Democratic Club, during which time she went to Washington D.C., had lunch on the White House lawn with President and Mrs. Kennedy. In 1963, Ray and Kathleen moved to Harrisonville where they purchased a Kansas City Star paper route that she ran morning and night. Later she was employed at the Jackson County Public Hospital and the Public Administrator over the Residential Care Unit. After retiring, they moved to Archie, Missouri and started traveling, spending winters in Texas and Florida and spending the summers in Colorado. Kathleen was a member of the First Baptist Church, Archie, Beta Sigma Pi, Harrisonville, President of OATS and always enjoyed the trips with everyone and a past member of the BPW. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, playing cards and baking and cooking for family and friends.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Cooper.

Kathleen is survived by her husband, Ray W. Carter Jr. of the home; a daughter, Karen Ferguson and husband William; a son, Ray W. Carter III and wife Denise all of Harrisonville, Missouri; 4 grandchildren, Shelly Miciano and husband Jon, Lee's Summit, Missouri, Renae Kubik and husband Brad, Springfield, Missouri, Ruben Carter and wife Alexa, Harrisonville, Missouri, Nichole Marshall and husband John, Garden City, Missouri; 8 great-granddaughters; 1 great-grandson; 3 sisters, Norma Amer, Brookfield, Missouri; Brenda Totty and husband Bill, Independence, Missouri, Lorna Woodside and husband Daryl, Purdin, Missouri; 3 brothers, Carl Cooper and wife Esther, Darlington, Missouri, Jay W. Cooper, Marceline, Missouri, Larry Cooper and wife Lynda, Harrisonville, Missouri; numerous nieces, nephews and many special friends.
