"Uncle" Bill as he was familiarly known, was a man who made every one his friend and the sad news of his death caused genuine sorrow in the community.
W. H. Haskell was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, March 19, 1836. Departed this life at his home near Winchester, December 31, 1915. Age 79 years, 9 months and 12 days. In youth he moved with his parents to Missouri.
He was married to Miss Susan E. Meglemire at Farley, Platte County, Mo., in 1858. To them were born six children, Mrs. Mary E. Beebee, Concordia; Mrs. Rosa Vroom, Oklahoma City, Okla.; Mrs. Leota Seal, W. T. and A. A. Haskell of Beaver county, Oklahoma; all of whom were present at the funeral. One son, Joseph E., died January 22, 1867. His wife died April 29, 1901.
He united with the Methodist church in 1869, and remained faithful until the Father called him home. The Masonic order, of which he was a member for a number of years, has charge of the funeral.
Funeral services were held from the home Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Cullison, pastor of the Methodist church. Interment was made in the Hull cemetery.
