Charlene Nelson Smith was born to Nelse and Edwina Nelson on June 11th, 1926 in Clarksville, Texas.
Charlene attended high school in Clarksville, Texas. She married Billy Joe Smith on March 19th, 1946 in Clarksville, Texas; they were married for 47 years. Charlene and Billy Joe moved from Clarksville, Texas to Levelland, Texas in 1949. Charlene was the mother of six children, and was a homemaker. She was a Domestic Engineer for M.D. Kenney Household and Stanley "Buttons" Williams Household for 20 years. Her hobbies were listening to the Williams Brothers Religious Music CDs. Charlene loved spending quality time with her grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of Northside Church of Christ in Levelland.
Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons, Willie Edward and Larry Dean Smith; two brothers, Nelse Nelson Jr. and Lewis Nelson, and one sister, Gladys Nelson.
She is survived by her daughter Margaret Wilson of Levelland, Texas; three sons, Raymond Smith of Levelland, Texas, Charles Smith of Lubbock, Texas and Walter Smith of Austin, Texas and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by five sisters, Marie Dawson, Emma Jones, Theola Mathis of Amarillo, Texas, Ester Ricks of Clarksville, Texas and Josephine Majors of Levelland, Texas; one brother, Fred Nelson of Amarillo, Texas.
