Mrs. Amy Darling, a former resident of Monticello, died at Mitchell, South Dakota, last Friday, and the body was brought to Monticello for burial. The funeral was held at the Methodist Episcopal church, in Monticello, last Monday afternoon, at 3 o'clock. The services were conducted by Rev Edward Lang, the pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church of Anamosa, in the absence of the local minister. Burial was had at Oakwood cemetery. The deceased was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Webster, and was born at South Bend, Indiana, March 5, 1837. She came with her parents to Iowa when a young girl, and was later married to W. W. Darling. Two children were born to this union, a daughter who died at the age of nine years and one son, William A. Darling, who now lives at Mitchell, South Dakota. Mrs. Darling's husband lost his life in the civil war in 1864. Following her husband's death, Mrs. Darling lived in Monticello for 20 years, and then removed with her son to Mitchell, South Dakota, and had lived in the latter's home during the past thirty years. Mrs. Darling died last Friday, the direct cause of her death being complications consequent upon old age. During the early years of her life she united with the Methodist Episcopal church, and died a devoted adherent to its teachings. She was a sister of the late Mrs. Cornelia Skelley.
