CHILHOWIE, Va. Florine "Jackie" Shuler Walker, age 80, passed away on March 9, 2012, in the Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, Va. Florine was born in Chilhowie, the youngest of 14 children of the late James Granville and Mary Ellen Dolinger Shuler. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Elmer Walker on Sept. 15, 2011; her sisters, Pearl Hoilman, Myrtle Barlow, Ruth Fisher, Velma Morefield and Josephine "Jo" Baumgarner; her brothers, Robert, Glen, Jim, Bruce, Dean and Sanders "San" Shuler. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Mike Hayes, with whom she had lived for the last 2 years; her sisters, Violet Tomlinson, Red Lion, Pa., Eva Williams, Atkins, Va.; her sisters-in-law, Marie Walker, Chilhowie, Louella Shuler, Chilhowie, Stella Shuler, Chilhowie, Carrie Royal, Aberdeen, Md., Gladys Shepherd, Wilkesboro, N.C., Juanita (Ernest) Huffman, Elverson, Pa.; a host of nieces, nephews and friends; special friends, Betty Sue Cole, Weaver, Vicky and Ryan Cole, Mark, LeSue and Ellen Cole, Brandon, Amanda, Josie and Samantha Sheets, Eva Hayes and Vicki Patton Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 11, 2012, from the Bradley's Funeral Chapel in Chilhowie with Pastors George Jessee and Jackie Ray Baumgarner officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral chapel. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at the Grosses Creek Baptist Church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Weaver Cole, Mark Cole, Jack Baumgarner, Brandon Sheets, Norman Johnson and Dennis Shuler. Honorary pallbearers will be Ron Baumgarner, Jesse Royal, Roy Royal, Ryan Boone and Cody Boone. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.bradleysfh.com.
