David Hickman Moss, the son of Preston Boyd and Martha (Mattie Woodson) Moss, attended Yale University for two years before return to Wyoming to work with his brother, Woodson Jackson Moss, at the cattle ranch in Parkman, Wyoming. Later he operated the Moss Implement Company in Billings, Montana selling farm implements.
David married Marjorie Powers in January 1929. They had one daughter, Marilyn Moss Castleman.
