"Laura was the daughter of Joseph Watts Wakefield and Eliza Lyons Wakefield. She also went by the name Frances. She was half Ojibwe through her mother. She married James Spangelo on 19 Jun 1896 in Grand Rapids, Itasca County, Minnesota. They had three children, but James abandoned the family around 1905. She remarried Lyman Arthur Allen on 17 Feb 1908 in Clearwater County, Minnesota. They had five children together before she passed away in 1927."
