Daughter of Alfred and May Nelson Fletcher. She was raised in Lafayette and attended Pacific Academy in Newberg. In 1914, she married George Courtney, who died several years ago. For a short time she worked as post mistress at the Lafayette Post Office, where her husband was the postmaster. She was a member of the Dayton Pioneer EUB Church and American Legion Auxiliary, and a past member of Eastern Star and the Rebekah Lodge. Survivors are two sisters-in-law, Josephine Washer and Olive Singleton, both of Lafayette.
