Elizabeth Waldrop Beaman's son Theron (my father) suffered a compound fracture of his left leg when he was about 12 years old, an infection of the wound followed and his Doctor wanted to amputate the leg right on the kitchen table in their home. Elizabeth wouldn't hear of it and said no she would care for the leg, so Theron had to stay off his legs for about a year while his Mother tended to his infected wound, she helped him pass the time with games and stories until he healed and Theron lived to age 90 with both his legs thanks to his wonderful mother Elizabeth "Lizzie" Waldrop Beaman.
