Harold was survived by his wife Betty Ann Arner; son Michael Arner (wife Dasha) of Albuquerque; daughter Rebecca Brown (husband Dennis) of Boston, Massachusetts; grandchild Caden Brown; brother Russell Arner of Brunswick, Ohio; sister Janet Gray (husband Ron) of Broadmax, Virginia; and friends.
Harold was a 1954 graduate of Worthington-West Franklin High School in Worthington, Pennsylvania. He was an alumna of Davis and Elkins College in West Virginia, where he received his degree in electrical engineering. He gained a master's degree at the Air Force Institute of Technology in Dayton, Ohio. Harold served 22 years in the United States Air Force and was a crew member with many types of aircraft. He achieved the rank of Lt. Colonel and was decorated multiple times for his service in Vietnam. Harold was an active member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, New Mexico Trout Fly Tiers, and Habitat for Humanity.
Services were held on 1 March 2012 with a reception afterwards at St. Luke Lutheran Church. Interment followed at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
