Gladys Marie Sumlin Aycock, age 91, passed away Sep 21, 2004 from Parkinson's Disease. She was born in Simsboro, LA on Nov 4, 1912. She graduated from Simsboro High School and Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA and El Paso, Texas. Gladys was a Brownie Leader, Sunday School teacher and always a room mother for her daughters' schools. She was a life long Southern Baptist. She was preceded in death by Jessie Collier Aycock, husband of 61 years and daughter Joanne Aycock Fitzpatrick. She is survived by daughters, Janet Marie Barlow and husband, Larry of Salem, New Mexico, Judy Anne Hughes and husband, Harold of Austin; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A graveside service was held at Fairview Cemetery in Bastrop Sep 24, 2004. We especially thank the staff of Gracy Woods II Nursing Center for their great care and loving attention to our mother.
