My uncle.

Wendell was the youngest of my mother's three older brothers. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a 1st Lt. in the 27th Infantry, 25th Division from Illinois.

He died of a massive and sudden heart attack as he was walking down a street in Fairfield, Illinois on June 16, 1951. My mother was devastated by his death as she and Wendell were very close. It was even more hard on her because it happened while my father was overseas during the Korean War and she had no spouse to lean on during the initial grieving process.

He was survived by his wife and 2 sons. After his death they moved away and our family lost touch with them completely.
