Lois M. Abate, 85, of Ford City, died Monday, March 12, 2012, at her residence.

She was born May 8, 1926, a daughter of the late Floyd H. McGeary and Florence (Flanders) McGeary.

She was the wife of the late Paul A. Abate, who died Aug. 17, 2009.

Paul and Lois were married July 6, 1948.

Lois enjoyed being surrounded by her family and was an excellent cook and baker. She also enjoyed working crossword puzzles and reading.

Survivors include her sons, Mark B. (Gloria) Abate, of Greensburg, and Patrick V. Abate, of Spring, Texas; daughter, Paula M. (Joseph) Dunmire, of Kittanning; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Abate and Angela Tatarek; two great-grandchildren, Austin Tatarek and Julia Tatarek; and two sisters, Jean Woodward, of Indiana, and Bobbi McCreary, of Worthington.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her two sisters, Winifred Gray and Bonnie Gray.

Viewing will be from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the MANTINI FUNERAL HOME INC., Ford City. Prayer service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Christ Prince of Peace Parish with Father Daniel Blout as celebrant. Interment will be in Saint Marys Cemetery.
