Mary (Mae) was the daughter of John and Ruth McLean. The family had moved to the US for a few years and then returned to Canada in 1893 where she was raised. She married James Leggette and they had two children ... William Robert Merrel and Ruth A. S. Leggette. Mae lived all her life in the Owen Sound area and was very close to her siblings who remained in Ontario. Her and her second husband Joe Dixon farmed for many years near Kemble, Ontario. They adopted two children ... Maxine and Paul. After Joe's death in 1960 Mae spent her remaining years in Owen Sound.
