Wilson — Graveside services for Mrs. Helen Hurst, 79, of Charlie, Texas, is scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Hewitt Cemetery at Wilson with the Rev. Alvin Easterling officiating. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.
Helen was born August 22, 1932, at Liscomb, Iowa, to the late Mr. William Harold Smith and Mrs. Ruby Pearline (Newcum) Smith. She departed this life Sunday evening, March 11, 2012, at the Wilson Nursing Center.
Helen graduated high school in Ardmore in 1955 and she attended college at the Oklahoma Women's College in Chickasha. She and Mr. Okla C. Hurst were united in marriage March 31, 1956, at McAllen, Texas, at the First Christian Church.
Helen was always a devoted homemaker and a wonderful cook who loved crocheting and reading books. She and Okla have been residents of Charlie, Texas, for the past 19 years and are members of the First United Methodist of Petrolia, Texas.
Preceding her in death were her parents; brother; Bill; sister, Shirley Marutzsky; niece, Angel Annette Marutzsky; and a nephew, Kevin Charles Price.
Survivors include her husband, Okla C. Hurst of Charlie, Texas; two sons, Dennis Hurst and wife, Joni of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Darrell Hurst; five grandchildren, Bryan and Jennifer, and Monica, Angelique and Daniel; one great-grandchild, Maya; sisters, Jean Barrett of Wilson, Kay Ernst and husband, Tony of Wilson, and Pat Miller of Newalla; and numerous other family and friends.
Pallbearers are family.
